Cruises from Oceania Cruises: ports for the gourmets

Oceania Cruises Company intends to renew its collection of shore excursions this season. Among the new cruises in 2012 are culinary tours, which the company is going to submit in 25 ports around the world. The new Oceania Cruises program was named Culinary Discovery Tours.
Oceania Cruises has developed its own gastronomic tour for each port. According to the authors, each tour will introduce passengers the features of local markets and gourmet cooking art. Culinary Discovery Tours provide for small tour groups that allow tourists to catch the subtle nuances and peculiarities of food in every port.
The tourist program will include visiting of wine farms, dairies, fish markets, chocolate shops and bakeries.
Culinary tours will mainly focus on the Mediterranean ports. For example, in Athens tourists can visit the famous Agora market and to have dinner in the old Plaka district of the capital. In the port of Barcelona tour participants will visit Santa Catarina market, olive oil tasting and lunch in one of the best city’s restaurants, which serves tapas.
Each tour includes a lecture about the cooking features, cooking demonstrations and, of course, tasting the dish. After returning to the ship everyone will be able to prove their knowledge in the Bon Appétit culinary center.
The Oceania Cruises company timed presentation of this tourism product to the fleet enlarging. In May 2012 cruise destinations will be served by the new ship from Oceania Cruises - Riviera. This ship will be the first to offer its guests the opportunity to enjoy the new product.
Today Oceania Cruises is among the first companies in the world, which open culinary centers on their ships. For example, culinary school is now available on the Riviera ship analog – Marina liner.
This spring culinary tours will be available on both European cruise liners - Marina and Riviera. In 2013 it will also be available on cruises in Asia, the Caribbean and South America. The cost of the program starts from 175 Euros.
