Carnival Splendor Fire in 2010

On November 8, 2010, a fire broke out in the Carnival Splendor’s aft engine room. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the ship lost power as a result. The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan delivered supplies on November 9; tugboats then brought the ship to San Diego.

Carnival announced on November 16 that departures through January 9, 2011, would be canceled. The ship was scheduled to return to its itinerary on January 16. Affected guests were to receive refunds for their cruise fare and airfare, as well as a 25 percent discount on a future cruise.
