Marella announces 70 new Caribbean shore excursions for the winter season

04/11/2026

On October 31, 2026, Cruise Industry News reported that Marella Cruises was adding 70 shore excursions to its Caribbean offering for winter 2026/27. The excursions range from active experiences to music and local history.

The report lists three ships: Marella Discovery, with La Romana as its Caribbean base, and Marella Explorer 2 and Marella Voyager, whose planned base for their Caribbean season is Bridgetown. This is useful for travelers because the excursions are tied to each ship’s itinerary and port.

A variety of excursions rather than a one-size-fits-all shore program

The Flying Dutchman zipline is located in St. Maarten; according to the report, the excursion takes visitors up Sentry Hill by chairlift before they ride the zipline. On Bonaire, the report mentions a land yacht propelled by wind. In Tobago, the Steelpan takes center stage, with visitors learning about how the instrument is made and how it sounds. In Ponce, the excursion combines city sightseeing with an introduction to salsa. The selection ranges from physically active experiences to music and crafts.

Other examples focus on the places visited: the Sugar City Trolley Train travels through Basseterre on St. Kitts, while the Window Cave excursion in Puerto Rico explores a cave with archaeological and scenic significance. The type of excursion may influence whether guests choose to spend their day in port on an organized activity or plan their own visit.

Caribbean ports after repositioning voyages

The designation of home port for Explorer 2 and Voyager refers to their later deployment in the Caribbean. TUI’s official calendar still listed repositioning voyages from Málaga to Bridgetown in early November: Voyager was scheduled for November 4 and Explorer 2 for November 5, 2026. Caribbean cruises from Bridgetown were listed for afterward. The timeline distinguishes the early-November crossings from the later Caribbean deployment.

TUI documents list Marella Discovery as scheduled to sail from La Romana for the 2026/27 winter season; Explorer 2 and Voyager are due to depart from Bridgetown.
