Viking takes delivery of Viking Haki

04/11/2026

New Longship for 190 guests

On October 28, 2026, Viking took delivery of Viking Haki. The company describes her as the newest river ship in its European fleet and classifies her as a Longship. According to the company, Haki accommodates 190 guests in 95 cabins. The handover adds the ship to Viking’s European river offerings on the Rhine, Main and Danube.

The handover marks a tangible step in the fleet’s growth. Viking River Cruises also said it plans to take delivery of 17 more river ships by 2028, bringing its fleet to 114 river ships. This expansion plan, announced by the company, spans several years and places Haki within the growth of its global river-cruise offering.

Four named itineraries

Viking lists the Rhine, Main and Danube as intended routes. In its announcement, the operator names four specific offerings: “Rhine Getaway,” “Grand European Tour,” “Danube Waltz” and “Tulips & Windmills.” Christmas market cruises are also planned. The selection shows that Haki is intended for a range of seasonal and themed programs—from classic river cruises to sailings with a winter focus.

These details are useful for planning a trip: they turn the fleet announcement into a preview of different types of itineraries. Viking combines river routes with seasonal Christmas market offerings and names specific cruises. The itineraries position Haki within a selection of river-themed and seasonal voyages.

Longship features on board

Viking highlights several design features of Haki. Its patented bow is intended to make three full decks possible. The ship also features the Aquavit Terrace, designed as an indoor-outdoor space. According to the operator, the asymmetrical corridor layout makes genuine two-room suites possible. For guests, these features have a direct impact on how they use the ship: the terrace connects a sheltered indoor area with an outdoor space, while the suite layout separates the sleeping and living areas.

Viking’s growth plan extends beyond river ships: the company also expects to add 11 ocean ships by 2032 and two expedition ships by 2031. Haki is therefore part of a multi-year expansion covering all three of the company’s offerings. The handover links this long-term fleet expansion with a specific European Longship and named itineraries.
