The naming ceremony took place off Travemünde on July 15, 2016. The ship had departed Kiel in the afternoon and reached Lübeck Bay in the evening. After turning in Siechen Bay, it took up its position for the ceremony off Travemünde’s main beach.
Godmother Lena Meyer-Landrut used a handheld laser at 11 p.m. to trigger the champagne bottle mechanism. The laser beam was directed from the ship to the Maritim Strandhotel and reflected back from a height of 119 meters. After the bottle shattered against the bow, a fireworks display over the bay brought the ceremony to a close.
The maiden voyage was scheduled to depart from Kiel the following day. The planned Baltic Sea itinerary went via Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Stockholm before returning to Kiel. TUI Cruises also listed cruises in northern Europe around Norway and in western Europe for summer 2016; the Caribbean was planned for the first winter season.
