SHIP OVERVIEW
Discover Princess
The Princess is a river cruise ship operated by Dutch Cruise Line, with its home port in Maasbracht. Built in 1981, the ship underwent extensive renovation in 2024. It accommodates up to 98 passengers in 49 cabins across two cabin decks. The restaurant, bar, lounge and sun deck make up the shared spaces; a stairlift connects the decks, including the sun deck. The cabins are about eleven square metres in size. The windows on the upper deck can be opened, while those on the lower deck remain closed. The listed amenities include a shower and toilet, hairdryer, television, telephone, safe and individually adjustable air conditioning. Full board is served on board.
Cycling and cruising between Berlin and Stralsund
In the 2027 programme, the Princess operates an eight-day cycling and cruise trip between Berlin and Stralsund. Depending on the direction of travel, the trip begins or ends in either city. The route follows the Havel and Oder rivers, passes Szczecin and the Baltic coast, and continues to the islands of Usedom and Rügen. The journey alternates between stretches by ship and daily cycling stages. The published itinerary includes places such as Eberswalde, Schwedt, Szczecin, Zinnowitz and Lauterbach on Rügen. One full day is set aside for travelling on board. Cycling days offer the chance to explore the route between ports actively; the stages vary in length, ranging in the examples from about 15 to more than 40 kilometres.
Cabins and travel arrangements
The published travel documents specify embarkation on the first day and disembarkation on the eighth. Depending on the offer, bicycles can be rented or brought along by prior arrangement. Dutch Cruise Line operates the cruise as the shipping company; an industry report from 2024 states that the Princess is chartered for much of the year to the German tour operator SE-Tours. For other destinations along the southern Baltic coast, the overview of river cruises from Stralsund provides relevant port information. The lake cruise to Schwerin travelled in October 2026 aboard the MS Mecklenburg from Berlin through the Mecklenburg Lake District. The PLANTOURS river cruise programme introduces other European ships and destinations.
