Profile and technical specifications
MS Prinzessin Katharina is a river cruise ship that can accommodate up to 140 passengers. Built in 1990, the ship was formerly called Prinzessin von Preußen. It bears the identification number ENI 09948003 and was refurbished in 2015. The ship is 110 metres long and 11.2 metres wide, with a draft of one metre. It sails under the Slovak flag. The crew consists of approximately 30 people. German and English are spoken on board.
The ship has two passenger decks: the Main Deck and the Upper Deck. The Main Deck has 38 outside cabins with fixed panoramic windows, as well as one single cabin. The Upper Deck has 29 outside cabins with French balconies, two single cabins and one triple cabin. The third bed in the triple cabin is suitable for passengers weighing no more than 80 kilograms.
Facilities and cabin information
The cabins measure approximately 11 square metres. Facilities include two separate beds at the same level, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, a television, air conditioning, a refrigerator and a hairdryer. The Upper Deck cabins have French balconies; the windows in the Main Deck outside cabins do not open. In some cabins at the stern and toward the front of the Main Deck, engine noise may be more noticeable while sailing or during manoeuvres. These cabins are offered as ECO cabins.
Public areas and onboard services
The restaurant and lounge are on the Upper Deck, which also has a spacious foyer. There is a small bar on the Main Deck. A library corner, a hairdresser and a small shop round out the facilities. The Sun Deck has seating and sun loungers. Wi-Fi is available for an additional charge on board. Mastercard and Visa are accepted. For safety and health reasons, smoking is permitted only on the Sun Deck.
Danube cruises in 2027
Prinzessin Katharina is scheduled to sail on the Danube in 2027. Two round trips departing from and returning to Passau are listed: one to Vienna and a longer itinerary via Vienna to Budapest. Both options connect Passau with the Austrian capital, while the second also continues to the Hungarian capital.
