Venice cruises. Cruises from Venice cruise terminal

Venice is one of the most popular cruise ports in the Mediterranean. The famous Italian city is annually visited by up to 500 cruise ships. More than 1.5 million passengers pass through the port every year.

Cruise port of Venice is situated between the Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto Island. It includes three terminals: for cruise ships, ferries and passenger boats. The port is managed by the company Venezia Terminal Passeggeri.

In general two terminals for cruise ships are opened in Venice. The main of them is Marittima. It is a key terminal, which is designed primarily for large cruise ships of such well-known companies as AIDA, Costa and others. Marittima pier is located only 15 minutes walk from the main transport hub of Venice - the bus station located on the Piazzale Roma. Marittima terminal is used both by major cruise companies and small operators.

Most cruise lines offer special buses to get from the port to the Piazzale Roma. Cruise passengers can use them for free. Buses run between the port and the Piazzale Roma. These buses work on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, but may also be available on other days when large cruise liners enter the port. Free shuttle buses depart from Venice cruise port entrance located near the dock â„–107.

In Venice port there are also facilities for those, who intend to begin their cruise from the famous Italian city. In the port of Venice is available a special parking area for those who go to the pier by car. It serves only cruise passengers. The cost of one parking lot is 10 euros per day.

In turn, you can get to Venice cruise port from two airports in Venice. From the main Venice Marco Polo Airport to the Piazzale Rom you can get by bus Actv line 5 in half an hour. A little longer will take to get to the road from the second airport of Venice, Treviso, which is located 30 kilometers from the city center. This route from the Piazzale Roma is served by free buses.

If the tourist arrives to the Santa Lucia railway station, the best way to get to the port is to cross the Ponte della Costituzione Bridge leading to the Piazzale Roma.

There is another passenger terminal for small cruise ships in Venice - San Basilio seaport. It is located on the Giudecca Canal near the famous Zattere promenade.
You could of course take a stroll through the city centre and have a look at the elegant shops or enjoy a well-deserved break at one of the typical Italian cafés. The special attraction in the lagoon city are the one hundred churches, the museums and art collections, as well as the Rialto bridge, which dates from the 16th century.
