Mini-cruises
Compare mini-cruises by route, time in port, cabin, and fare inclusions. A dated example is Color Line’s Kiel–Oslo offer for departures from November 2026 to March 2027.

A mini-cruise combines a short break with a voyage by ship. When comparing options, consider the travel dates, departure and destination ports, time ashore, and the services included in the booked offer. Cabin, meals, entertainment, and vehicle transport may be covered differently depending on the fare. The specific booking description shows which elements are included in the price and which are offered as extras.
Route and time ashore
The number of nights on board does not necessarily tell you how much time you will have ashore. The itinerary lists arrival and departure times and the scheduled time in port. A short port call can be used for a brief visit to the city; longer journeys or multiple destinations require more time. On a crossing without an extended stop, the connection between the ports and the onboard programme take centre stage.
Ferry trip or cruise offer?
Some short trips are made on ferries that also carry vehicles. A cabin trip can thus be combined with a visit to the destination. Other short trips focus on several port calls or a river route. So compare the actual route and fare on offer, not just the number of days away.
Kiel–Oslo: a dated example
For departures from 1 November 2026 to 17 March 2027, Color Line describes a Kiel–Oslo mini-cruise with two nights on board. The itinerary lists departure from Kiel at 2 p.m., arrival in Oslo at 10 a.m. the following day, and the return departure from Oslo at 2 p.m.; the ship reaches Kiel at 10 a.m. on the third day. The ships listed are Color Fantasy and Color Magic. According to the provider, the offer can be booked until 2 February 2027 and is subject to availability. Cabin category, discount, and other services are subject to the specific offer terms. Background information on Color Line, the port of departure, Kiel, and the destination port of Oslo explains the places involved and the shipping company.
This example shows why the length of the trip, time in port, and fare should be considered together: here, two nights on board include a full day in Oslo. Other short trips may have different routes and stays.
