MS Otac Ivan
The MS Otac Ivan combines a long history on the Dalmatian coast with its present-day role as a small passenger ship. In I.D. Riva Tours’ 2026 charter information, it is listed for departures from Trogir. The ship is 33 metres long and has 35 berths in 16 cabins.
From cargo ship to passenger ship
Its keel was laid in 1953 at the shipyard in Vranjic near Split. Two years later, the wooden vessel was launched as the cargo ship Milna. It carried building materials and other goods from the mainland to the Dalmatian islands.
In 1989, the owner at the time had the ship converted into a passenger vessel. The conversion was completed in time for the 1990 season; on that occasion, it was named Otac Ivan after the owner’s father.
Captain Dino and his wife Larissa are the owners and hosts on board. Dino comes from a seafaring family and grew up on ships; Larissa looks after the guests. The cabins, bathrooms and salon were renovated in 2020.
Cabins and decks
The 16 cabins are spread across three decks. On the lower deck are a twin cabin with bunk beds and two triple cabins, each with a double bed and a third bed above it. The main deck has three twin cabins with bunk beds, three double cabins with double beds and another triple cabin. There are six twin cabins on the upper deck. In total, the tour operator lists 13 twin or double cabins and three triple cabins. All cabins have a shower and toilet, as well as individually controlled air conditioning.
There are two sun decks with a combined area of around 120 square metres for relaxing together outdoors. The tour operator describes seating at tables on the foredeck, with additional benches and hanging chairs on the covered aft deck. An air-conditioned salon can accommodate 35 guests. According to the vessel’s profile, two stand-up paddleboards are available on board.
