Excursions around Nassau
Snorkelling at the island's atolls
This tour begins with a boat trip through the beauties of Nassau harbour, with its fantastic views of the islands of Paradise and New Providence. The boat will drop anchor over a natural coral reef, full of exotic marine life, or over the Thunderball reef and shipwreck, the backdrop to the James Bond film of the same name. Novices can take snorkel lessons here. Turtles, stingrays, eagle rays and a whole host of colourful fish can be seen and even fed. Snorkelling equipment will be made available. This tour does not involve physical exertion.
Highlights of Nassau and the Gardens of Adastra
This tour of the capital of the Bahamas will present all the interesting attractions, for example, Fort Fincastle (1793) with its majestic views. Another highlight will be a one-hour stay in the gardens of Ardastra, where the pink flamingo, the national bird, can be seen. After a short stop at the Queen's Staircase, named after Queen Victoria and comprising 64 stone steps, it's back to the ship. On the way back you will pass the historic Bay Street with its traders and horse-drawn carriages. This tour is not physically demanding.
Meeting dolphins in Nassau
Participants will feed the ocean's most popular mammal - the dolphin! A half-hour boat trip will bring the visitors to the island of the blue lagoons, which is home to 16 bottlenose dolphins. After a short briefing everybody will get to know these fantastic marine mammals. From a floating platform you will have the opportunity to stroke dolphins and interact with them. This tour may involve physical exertion.
