MSC Orchestra

MSC Orchestra belongs to MSC Cruises’ Musica class. The ship entered service in 2007 and sails under the Panamanian flag, with Panama as its port of registry. As a sister ship to MSC Musica, it shares the same basic concept but has its own layout and design for public areas.

History and design

Aker Yards France built Orchestra in Saint-Nazaire and delivered it to MSC on May 3, 2007. It was the second ship in the Musica class, following MSC Musica. Poesia and Magnifica joined the series later. Contemporary descriptions of Orchestra highlight its distinctive design: in the original concept, the L’Ibiscus restaurant took the place of Musica’s Maxim’s; at the time, L’Ibiscus was described as featuring yellow decor rather than the red color scheme of Musica’s restaurant. The aft Shaker Lounge on Deck 7 has a large window, while the theater was designed in a more understated style than that of its sister ship. The Savannah and Amber bars add their own accents in shades of green and yellow, respectively.

Cabins and suites

Accommodation ranges from interior and ocean-view cabins to balcony cabins and suites. MSC lists its balcony cabins as having around 15 to 28 square meters of interior space, depending on category; the balcony is typically listed as an additional four to five square meters. Amenities include a sofa, shower, hairdryer, safe and minibar. Suites also vary by category: MSC describes one suite as having around 26 square meters of interior space and a balcony of about four square meters, along with a seating area and bathtub.

Restaurants and bars

The main restaurants include L’Ibiscus and Villa Borghese. For more casual meals, guests can visit the La Piazzetta and Four Seasons buffet areas. The selection is complemented by bars and lounges: the Savannah Bar features live music, and La Cantinella is the ship’s wine bar.

Families, sports and relaxation

For younger guests, MSC lists the Jungle Adventure play area and a dedicated teens’ club. Sports facilities include basketball and tennis courts, as well as a jogging track. The outdoor decks and pools round out the options for relaxing on board.

Refit announced for 2027

On March 18, 2026, MSC Cruises announced a shipyard refit for Orchestra. The Yacht Club is scheduled to become available from March 13, 2027. Plans call for 63 suites in four categories, a private Top Sail Lounge, a dedicated restaurant and a private sun deck with a grill restaurant, bar and two whirlpools. Announced services include 24-hour butler and concierge service.

MSC has also announced that the refit will add the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and expand the Kaito Sushi Bar. The Aurea Spa is to be renovated, and the MSC Gym modernized with Technogym equipment. Plans include a sauna, steam rooms, a salt room and a Kneipp path, as well as yoga and spinning studios.

MSC has announced cruises from Bari to the eastern Mediterranean for March 2027. Destinations mentioned include Izmir and Istanbul in Turkey, as well as Piraeus, Corfu and Kefalonia/Argostoli in Greece.
