Puerto Cisnes Awaits the Silver Cloud as Its First Cruise Ship

04/11/2026

Empresa Portuaria Chacabuco (Emporcha) and the Municipality of Cisnes announced on September 21, 2026, that the Silver Cloud is set to become the first premium cruise ship to call at Puerto Cisnes. The port is in the Aysén Region on Chile’s southern Pacific coast. The municipality links the planned call to its regional tourism development.

A Terminal with a Regional Role

The call would bring a new use for the public Terminal de Conectividad. According to Emporcha, the port authority manages the facility, which includes a floating berth and more than 500 square meters of space. Until now, the infrastructure has primarily served regional connections and coastal traffic. The mayor of Cisnes placed the announcement in the context of roughly a decade of local development efforts, citing investments in the waterfront, roads, and passenger infrastructure.

A Port in Aysén’s Coastal Transport Network

Puerto Cisnes lies amid a coastal landscape of fjords, channels, and island groups. The region’s shipping connections link remote coastal communities; tourism information lists routes from Quellón on Chiloé to destinations including Melinka, Raúl Marín Balmaceda, and Puerto Cisnes. The terminal is therefore not just a potential port of call for a single cruise, but part of a maritime transport network connecting places that can be far apart by land.

The terminal connects the planned cruise call with existing passenger and coastal traffic. The public facility’s regional role thus remains part of the port concept. The announced call at Puerto Cisnes expands the range of coastal destinations offered on South America cruises.

Construction, Operations, and Local Development

Emporcha manages the terminal, built by the Dirección de Obras Portuarias (DOP), under a three-party agreement with Chile’s Ministry of Transport and the DOP. According to the port company, the facility has areas for passenger movement, restrooms, and service facilities. It is designed to support both operations at the berth and the needs of regional shipping.

The municipality links the terminal’s development with local commerce, crafts, and services. For the cruise sector, the announced inaugural call is the concrete next step, while construction and tourism development involve a range of local initiatives.

The expedition ship Silver Cloud is operated by Silversea. The announcement by Emporcha and the Municipality of Cisnes is dated September 21, 2026.
