SHIP OVERVIEW
The Silver Cloud sails for Silversea Cruises. Built in 1994, the ship was most recently refurbished in 2017, according to the cruise line. Silversea describes it as the first crossover ship in its fleet, combining the comfort of a luxury ship with equipment for expedition voyages. Twenty Zodiacs and ten kayaks enable outings and exploration in remote areas. The cruise line highlights the opportunity for the ship’s guests to explore simultaneously.
Silversea lists capacity for 254 guests and 212 crew members. Around 80 percent of the suites have a veranda. The options range from the Vista Suite, with its large panoramic window, to Veranda and Deluxe Veranda Suites, as well as larger Silver, Royal, Grand and Owner’s Suites. The Medallion Suite features a living area and a balcony with floor-to-ceiling glass doors.
Four restaurants define the ship’s dining offering. The Grill serves salads, grilled fish and steaks, among other dishes, by the pool. La Dame specializes in French tasting menus. La Terrazza offers buffet service with live cooking for breakfast and lunch; in the evening, the focus is on Italian dishes, including homemade pasta. The Restaurant combines classic cuisine with dishes inspired by the destinations visited.
Public areas include the Dolce Vita Lounge, with live piano music, and the Panorama Lounge. A library is available in the glass-enclosed Observation Lounge. A fitness center, beauty salon and Zagara Beauty Spa round out the facilities. The pool deck has loungers in both sunny and shaded areas, as well as whirlpools; the pool is heated in cooler weather.
The Explorer Lounge is intended for lectures, presentations, live entertainment and events. In the photo studio, guests can edit, print and display photographs. This gives the ship spaces for activities and relaxation during longer days at sea. Zodiacs and kayaks complement these facilities by enabling exploration beyond the ship.
Emporcha and the Municipality of Cisnes announced the Silver Cloud’s first premium cruise call at the Puerto Cisnes Terminal. The public terminal in the Aysén Region serves regional connections and coastal traffic. According to Emporcha, it has a floating pier and more than 500 square meters of space. The announced cruise call expands its role to include expedition tourism. Background to the announcement.
