The Koningsdam sails for Holland America Line and belongs to the Pinnacle class. Fincantieri built her in Marghera; the cruise line took delivery of the ship on March 31, 2016, and she entered service on April 8. Her name honors Dutch King Willem-Alexander. The class was later joined by the Nieuw Statendam, which entered service in 2018, and the Rotterdam. The three ships share, among other features, the World Stage theater with its expansive screen.
The Pinnacle Suite covers around 120 square meters (1,290 square feet) and combines living, dining, and dressing areas with a sleeping area; it can accommodate up to four guests. Amenities include a private veranda, a deep soaking tub, a separate shower, and two sinks. Access to the Neptune Lounge, a personal concierge, and priority check-in are also included. Services include complimentary laundry, pressing, and dry cleaning. The suite is furnished with Duxiana king-size beds and has a private guest powder room.
After a two-week shipyard period in the Bahamas, the Koningsdam returned to service in March 2026 with five new, larger ocean-view staterooms. Each can sleep up to four guests, with two beds that can be combined into a queen-size bed and a double sofa bed. Four of the five staterooms can be connected. In addition, 22 Vista Suites received new sofa beds.
Entertainment includes live music featuring rhythm and blues, current hits, music quizzes, and sing-alongs. Venues include Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge. In March 2026, the area between Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge was redesigned: additional seating and lounge-style seats in between make it possible to watch performances from the adjoining areas. The casino was expanded. World Stage is the largest theater on board, with a two-story panoramic screen defining the space. Its program features talks about regional stories during the day and shows in the evening.
The shipyard period also included new carpeting in staterooms and public areas, as well as new fitness equipment. Some fixed tables in Pinnacle Grill, Sel de Mer, and Club Orange were replaced with movable seating. This allows the restaurants to arrange seating more flexibly for groups of different sizes.
