SHIP OVERVIEW
Rotterdam is a Pinnacle-class cruise ship operated by Holland America Line. Fincantieri delivered the ship from its Marghera shipyard in 2021. At 299.79 metres long, 35 metres wide and 99,935 gross tons, it is one of the cruise line’s largest ships.
Fincantieri lists 1,340 passenger cabins and a maximum capacity of 4,173 people on board. There are also 591 crew cabins. The passenger cabins span several categories: alongside inside and ocean-view cabins, there are family cabins, mini-suites and suites. The shipyard lists 734 deluxe cabins, 261 standard inside cabins, 99 standard ocean-view cabins with windows and 32 family cabins. There are also 102 mini-suites and 58 suites. In total, 79.2 percent of the passenger cabins have an outside window, and 68 percent have a balcony. In its public spaces, the ship combines contemporary design with features inspired by music. It is a sister ship to Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam; all three belong to the Pinnacle class.
In the published 2026 European programme, Rotterdam was scheduled to serve as the home port for Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam. The selection included seven-day cruises to the Norwegian fjords and open-jaw sailings between Reykjavik and Rotterdam. Longer cruises included 14-day itineraries to Baltic and Scandinavian capitals. Several featured overnight stays or late calls in Oslo, with other ports of call in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark.
The season’s schedule for Rotterdam also announced calls in Aberdeen, Kalundborg and Odda. These destinations expanded the Northern European offering with ports in Scotland, Denmark and Norway. The actual itinerary depends on the specific departure date, so the relevant cruise description should be consulted when planning.
Fincantieri built Rotterdam at its Marghera shipyard as the fourteenth ship for Holland America Line. Its service speed is 18 knots, and its maximum speed is 22.2 knots. The ship is listed as having two electric azipods rated at 14,000 kilowatts each; according to the specification sheet, its four main engines each produce 12,600 kilowatts. A 14-day cruise, “Arctic Journey and Northern Lights,” from Rotterdam to Amsterdam was also announced for October 4, 2026.
