Moosehead Brewery & highlights of St. John´s
An amusing and fascinating visit to the Moosehead brewery, the oldest independent brewery in Canada. The excursion begins with a bearings-finding trip through St John's, including a visit to the old market place on Germain Street. Since 1876 locals have been selling fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish here. About 20 minutes will be left to explore the market under one's own steam. The trip then continues to the Moosehead Brewery for a visit to the production sites. Here it is possible to learn more about the history of the brewery and the production of the popular beer. On the way back there will be a short break in Fallsview Park with its famous waterfalls. A quick visit to O'Leary's Pub. An opportunity to try out some of the brewery's products. Please note: this excursion requires a minimum age for participation of 19.
Flowers, farms and the magic of New Brunswick
The magic of the city of New Brunswick with its rural charm. After leaving St John's the trip continues to the beautiful landscape of Darlings Island, there to meet Nancy Thorpe, a passionate gardener, who will show the participants her wonderful flowers and trees. On the way back to Hampton there will again be an opportunity to see more of the city of New Brunswick. Then arrival at the home of Evelyn Cassidy, the owner of a farm with attached dairy. Here it will be possible to learn more about farming life and to milk a cow by hand.
On the turn-of-the-century wagon trail
A tour from another age in horse-drawn wagons in quest of St John's and its history. The guide will tell stories about St John's (e.g. about the great fire that once destroyed most of the town). Worth seeing are King Square with the graves of the loyalists, the old marketplace, the stone church and much more. For those participants wishing to stay in the town to use the time to go shopping, a separate stop will be arranged.
