Cruise line
Maasbracht (NL)
Dutch Cruise Line organizes river cruises and cycling trips along European waterways.
Dutch Cruise Line is a company specializing in river cruises, based in Maasbracht in the Netherlands. The company describes its work as organizing, operating and hosting river trips. According to the company, this also includes cruises to special destinations. The onboard crew and guest services are part of the offering; the company says that a captain or owner is on board on many trips.
The Dutch cruise operator uses ships of various sizes and passenger capacities. Its range of trips offers travel along several European waterways and in different regions. Dutch Cruise Line cites cruises on the Baltic Sea, to the heart of Prague, to Bruges and Paris, and along the Saar, Rhine and Moselle as examples. Strasbourg and destinations along rivers in France, Luxembourg and Germany are also highlighted. During the Advent season, trips to Christmas markets are added. For Baltic Sea cruises and the journey to the heart of Prague, the company names the Princess and the Johannes Brahms.
In addition to classic river cruises, the range includes cycling cruises, which alternate stages on land with onward travel by ship. One such trip is the eight-day route aboard the MS Princess between Berlin and Stralsund, offered as a cycling and river cruise in 2027. The Princess accommodates up to 98 passengers in 49 cabins; an industry report published in 2024 described it as a ship refurbished by Dutch Cruise Line. The report also notes that the Princess is chartered to the German tour operator SE-Tours for much of the year. The cruise operator and the tour operator therefore perform different roles.
According to the 2024 industry report, Dutch Cruise Line worked almost exclusively with specialist tour operators and travel agencies. Alongside group and cycling trips, the company lists charters, incentive trips and hotel stays as possible travel options. On cycling cruises, guests ride their bikes during the day while the ship transports their luggage. One of the starting and ending ports for the cycling programme is Stralsund. From there, multi-day cruises travel through the Bodden lagoons and along the Baltic coast, often stopping on Rügen and Usedom.
