Hungary’s cruise experience is closely tied to the Danube. In Budapest, the river shapes the view of both halves of the city: Buda, with its hills, on one side, and Pest, with its streets and squares, on the other.
Experience Budapest from the river
A river cruise makes the bridges, Parliament and riverbanks part of your visit to the city. On shore, you can walk along the water, cross a bridge to Pest or Buda, or head to the Castle District. This lets you plan your walk around your time in port and the actual docking location, rather than trying to see both riverbanks without allowing extra time. Danube itineraries also include Vienna and Bratislava as other destinations along the river.
Plan around your docking location and the side of the city
Your travel documents specify where the ship docks. From there, the distance and time available will help you decide whether a riverside walk, a bridge crossing or a destination in the Castle District is the best fit.
