Hoya on the Weser: River Cruise and Shore Visit
Hoya is a stop on multi-day Weser river cruises. The landing is in front of the town hall, while the old town, riverside promenade and historic attractions are spread across both banks.
Hoya on the Weser
Hoya lies on both banks of the Weser and is a stop on multi-day river cruises on the Weser. One example is the “Nordic Elegance Along the River” cruise aboard the VIVA RUBY from Bremen: the published itinerary schedules a stop in Hoya on the second day, from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Attractions on both banks
On the eastern side of the Weser are the former castle of the Counts of Hoya and the present-day Martinskirche cultural center. Half-timbered houses shape the character of the fishermen’s quarter. The Museum of the County of Hoya is housed in the Stafforst manor house. On the left bank of the Weser, the riverside promenade passes restaurants; the printing museum and cinema are also located there. The attractions are within walking distance of one another.
Dock and shore visit
The ship landing is located in front of the town hall of the Samtgemeinde Grafschaft Hoya. It serves as the local reference point for a walking tour. When choosing attractions on both sides of the Weser, allow time for crossing the river and returning to the landing specified for your departure. Other river ports in Germany are spread across various waterways. Those wishing to compare other waterways can look to the Mittelland Canal as a distinct example of a route for longer river journeys.
