Guest Services and Crew Contacts
On Princess ships, Guest Services, the stateroom staff and the Medical Center handle different guest needs. Guest Services can help with an onboard account or accessible information; requests for a bathrobe should go to the Stateroom Steward, and medical concerns to the Medical Center.
Guest Services and accessible information
Guests paying in cash or with travelers’ checks at the start of a Princess cruise must leave a cash deposit with the Guest Services staff. Guests without their own reading device can also ask there for one of the limited number of tablets with a screen-reader function; these are issued on a “first come, first served” basis. On request, Guest Services can turn on the text reader on the stateroom television, which reads displayed text aloud. These features provide two practical ways to access assistance: personal help with an onboard account and information that can be heard aloud or accessed using a reading device. For further information, see the article on accessible staterooms and public areas.
Contact in your stateroom
For a waffle-weave bathrobe, Princess names the Stateroom Steward as the person to contact; guests can ask them for one. The stateroom television also offers a directory with a complete list of services. It provides an overview of what is available, while the Steward is the personal point of contact for a specific bathrobe request.
Medical concerns
The Medical Center on Princess ships is staffed by licensed doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. For routine care, it is open twice a day by appointment and also accepts walk-ins. The team is available around the clock for urgent or acute medical care. Guests who feel ill during their trip should contact the Medical Center promptly, in accordance with Princess’s instructions. This is distinct from general hygiene guidance, such as advice on illness and hygiene on board; for seasickness, the medical team is also the onboard point of contact.
Another cruise line example: Carnival
At Carnival, a Guest Service Associate handles reception and telephone inquiries. Duties also include processing lost luggage and found items as assigned, and logging concerns in an internal shipboard system followed by a response. Questions about onboard accounts and assistance with embarkation and disembarkation are also part of the role.
