Warnemünde Week: Regatta and Summer Festival

Warnemünde Week combines sailing regattas on the Baltic Sea with a public summer festival in Warnemünde. The 2026 edition ran from July 4 to 12. The sailing calendar and the onshore program offer two distinct ways to experience the event: different boat classes compete on the water, while ashore there are sports, music, and activities for families. Visitors can therefore choose to watch the races, enjoy the summer festival, or do both.

Sailing and regattas

The 2026 class schedule included Finn Dinghy, ILCA, Topcat, J/70, and Hobie Cat 16, among others. The program also featured “Around Bornholm,” an offshore regatta. The schedule spread the class competitions across the days from July 4 to 12. This makes clear that Warnemünde Week is not just one regatta: class races, championships, and long-distance competitions each bring a different focus to the same event.

This is useful for spectators as well as sailors. A class championship focuses attention on particular types of boats, while an offshore regatta represents a different kind of competition and a longer course. The class schedule shows which competitions overlap and on which days individual classes are on the water. This gives the sporting program its own structure alongside the concerts and onshore activities.

Summer festival on shore

The official 2026 program included, for example, a children’s program with a magic show and a balloon artist, beach rugby, an Olympic sports zone, and concerts by the pop department of the Rostock University of Music and Theatre. The evening lineup included an indie night, an ’80s disco, and a classical music concert. This selection shows the range of the summer festival: family activities, opportunities to try sports, and a variety of music styles complemented the sailing competitions.

A day visit therefore need not be limited to watching from the regatta course. In 2026, the onshore program offered events at various locations in the seaside resort, including the Kurhausgarten, Neuer Strom, and the area in front of the lighthouse. For cruise passengers, the summer festival adds to a stop in one of the cruise destinations on the Baltic Sea. Music events can be combined with onboard entertainment, shows, and live music; on themed cruises, a shared interest is the focus of the trip.

Race days in the 2026 edition

Races for Finn Dinghy and ILCA were scheduled for July 4 to 6, and for J/70 from July 9 to 11. According to the program, the long-distance regatta “Around Bornholm” started at 1 p.m. on July 6; commentary was also scheduled at the Strand Arena Warnemünde. Visitors who wanted to see different classes could plan their visit around each class’s race days.
