Pride and LGBTQ+ Travel Formats

Pride and LGBTQ+ travel formats can combine community events and artist programs with a cruise itinerary. To understand what a trip offers, consider both its overall focus and the specific activities announced on board and ashore. For “Bunte Horizonte” aboard Mein Schiff 5, music, queer parties, fitness and entertainment were announced for the eastern Mediterranean. The Cologne Rainbow Festival was a separate onshore event.

More than a single event

“Bunte Horizonte” was announced as a themed cruise aboard Mein Schiff 5 from June 12 to 19, 2026, with an additional line-up alongside the regular onboard program. The planned itinerary was a round trip from Heraklion, calling at Argostóli, Piraeus and Bodrum before heading to Mykonos. Mykonos was planned as the highlight of the trip; the themed cruise was to celebrate love, acceptance and diversity.

The program brought together different kinds of performances: Eloy de Jong was set to perform well-known songs; Katy Bähm was announced for two DJ sets, while Wanda Kay was to perform original songs and classic hits by famous divas. Berlin party series “PiepShow” planned two queer techno raves on board. Kena Amoa and David Modjarad were to bring stories from the world of celebrities to the cruise with their “RTL Exclusiv an Bord” format. The line-up thus combined music, DJ performances, a party format and entertainment. Trips featuring electronic music and DJ festivals also bring together several types of musical performance.

The cruise also included its own sports and entertainment program: personal trainer Stefan Reinig was announced for fitness activities, and Pascal Manuel Kaiser was set to comment on the FIFA World Cup taking place during the cruise. Patrizia Moresco and Domenic and Jonathan Osterroth were also part of the announced line-up. Comedy and stage humor are related to comedy and cabaret cruises as another event format.

Itinerary and festival connection

Alongside the cruise, TUI Cruises also described a partnership with Cologne Rainbow Festival. The festival was announced for June 28, 2025, at Fühlinger See; as a new partner, Mein Schiff planned to offer its own festival experiences, prize draws and opportunities to meet the Mein Schiff team at the Aqua Stage. The onshore festival and the June 2026 “Bunte Horizonte” departure are two separate dates and formats.
